Obituary for Anthony Clayburn

Anthony Carlos Clayburn was a resident of Mount Laurel, NJ who passed away after a courageous battle with large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on March 4th, 2022. Anthony was an alumnus of Waterloo East High School & Howard University. He was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa.

Known as a loving & kind man who genuinely dedicated his life to his family. Some of his fondest memories would include frequent trips with his wife Veronica to Miami and Puerto Rico. He was an avid sports fan who was quick to share memories of famous plays, coaches and players dating back decades. Anthony extended his enthusiasm for basketball and helping others as the former Burlington Township basketball coach.

Anthony was fully committed to his career as a Managing Director of Arch Reinsurance Company where he spent the last 15 years successfully building a business alongside colleagues and clients whom he partnered with for nearly 30 years. With a strong desire to make a difference, Anthony was a key member of the company’s Diversity & Inclusion committee. Among many projects, he was instrumental in introducing an initiative that partnered Arch Reinsurance with his alma mater, Howard University. This effort launched an internship program giving students an opportunity to gain valuable experience with the company. Anthony worked tirelessly to ensure the program’s launch in late January 2022.

More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and friends especially on the back patio in the evening hours. Anthony was a true gentleman who put everyone at ease and generated lasting relationships as an attentive listener and conscientious communicator. He will be missed deeply by his family and all those who knew him.

Anthony is survived by his wife: Veronica (nee Diaz), parents: Etta and Richard, Sr., children: Ashley, Anthony, Jr., and Sajel, brothers: Richard, Jr. and Maurice, grandson: Cassius.

A viewing honoring Anthony will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM to be followed by a funeral service at 3:00 at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ, 08054.
