Obituary for Antoinette B. "Toni" Gallo (Berni)

Antoinette Gallo, “Toni”, 91, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Born and raised in Vineland, NJ, Toni and her beloved, late husband Ralph, raised their family in Trenton, NJ before retiring in Mt. Laurel.

In addition to her husband, Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edith Berni, her brothers, Joseph and Vincent Berni and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her sister, Emma; her 4 children, Guy (Carol), Boni (Tom), Gregory (Lynne) and Ken (Shelly); her 9 grandchildren, Gina (Dan), Danielle (Michael), Meaghan, Julian, Kyle, Robert, Cayce, Gabrielle and Andrew; her adored great-grandson Graham; her much loved sisters-in-law, Minnie and Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Toni graduated from Vineland High School in 1948 where she had been a proud participant of the leadership and government program known as Jersey Girls State. While raising her family, she worked first as a seamstress for the exclusive Stacy’s shop in Trenton and then as an executive secretary for New Jersey State Police. She was active in the PTA and her church while in Trenton and continued that church participation in Mt. Laurel, serving in St. John Neumann’s Altar Rosary Society, organizing their Day of Prayer in years past.

From a young age, Toni enjoyed sewing and had a great sense of style, developing an exceptional talent for both creation and alteration. She also loved cooking and baking, which were a part of every family tradition and celebration.

Toni was loved and admired and a role model to both family and friends. Her courageous spirit and perseverance will long be remembered.

Family and friends will be received at St. John Neumann Church, 560 Walton Avenue, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 9:00am – 10:00am with Mass to be celebrated at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mount Holly.
