Obituary for Catherine Theresa Schmidt (Frein)
Catherine F. Schmidt (nee Frein), passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Catherine was the daughter of Irish immigrants, Hugh and Kathryn (nee Hopkins) Frein. She graduated from John W. Hallahan High School for Girls and was a proud Blue Ribbon Girl.
Prior to settling in the South Jersey area, Catherine lived in Maine, Hudson Valley and Tarrytown, New York. Catherine enjoyed vacationing with the family at the Jersey Shore and reading the newspaper to keep up on current events. She was a passionate advocate for her son Billy, as well as others with autism and special needs. Her devotion to Billy enabled him to live a full life filled with love and many meaningful experiences.
Beloved wife of the late William E. Schmidt; devoted mother of Carole (Tony) Sarlo, Diane (Steve) Nafranowicz and the late Billy Schmidt; cherished grandmother of Michael and Mark Sarlo; dear sister of the late John Frein, Thomas Frein and Mary Tatar; loving aunt of Marjorie Mantas and several nephews. Catherine is also survived by a dear friend, Michele Karpovich.
Family and friends are invited to Catherine's Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, February 26, 2024, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 103 4th Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
