Obituary for Charles L. Simonka
Charles (Charlie) Louis Simonka passed into God's Loving Arms on August 16, 2021 at the age of 65.
Charles was born July 25, 1956 in Florence Township to Alexander and Shirley Simonka.
Charlie lived in Florence all of his life. He went to Florence Township High school. He played Basketball and Football, and was known for making that extra point. Charlie enjoyed playing Basketball in the Church league with his friends in his younger years.
Charlie went on to Upsala College for his BA in Sociology and later Cairn University for a Master's Degree in Counseling.
Charlie was always helping people. It was his passion. He started his career as a Teacher -Trainer for the State of New Jersey from 1979-1983. He was a social Worker for Johnston's Training Center from 1983-1989.
He was brought on as a Counselor at Christ's Bible Church in 2003, before becoming Pastor there from 2007-2012. And Best of all, in 2012, Charlie became the 1st Pastor of The Rising Community Fellowship and Outreach Center in Pennsauken and presently in Moorestown.
Pastor Charlie always had a huge smile and the biggest heart. He always had time for his family, friends and "his" Rising family. The Rising Community was his calling.
Charlie loved his music as everyone knows and Bruce Springsteen was his "absolute" favorite, followed closely by Motown. When Bruce was in town he would go to all the shows and had been known to go to The Stone Pony. Music was definitely a big part of his life.
Charlie was a great fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and would always watch the games. He spent his family vacations with his great friends, "The Hulehan Family," - Larry and Donna and their 2 sons, Ryan and Kyle.
Charlie was the eldest brother to the late Alexander Simonka and late Michael Simonka. He is survived by sister-in-laws Denise and Karen, nieces Ashlee, Brittany and Samantha, cousins, family, friends and his "Rising" family.
Pastor Charlie Simonka's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday September 12, 2021 from 11 am - 12 pm. The service will be a Livestream.
