Obituary for Cynthia Louise Italiano (Keene)

Cynthia Louise Italiano (née Keene), age 66, of Delanco, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Cindy was born in Atlantic City to Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Keene and the late Walter William Keene, Jr., and was raised in Mount Holly. As a girl she enjoyed picking blueberries at Bowker’s Farm, spending summers at the Wildwood shore and waitressing at the Vincentown Diner. She attended Sacred Heart School, Rancocas Valley Regional High School, and St. Joseph’s University (“The Hawk Will Never Die!”). Cindy began her career with the Small Business Administration. She later taught middle school students at St. Peter’s School in Riverside and St. Stephen School in Pennsauken, and she both taught in the school and worked in the parish rectory of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorestown. Throughout her life Cindy remained passionate about her family, which she raised in Delanco and Mount Laurel, as well as music, baseball, and her Catholic faith. She was happiest reading a book on the beach, spending time with her grandchildren, and entertaining friends and family.

Cindy is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 44 years, John Italiano; her mother, Betty Keene; her children, Philip Italiano (Kathryn) and Elise Ureneck (Adam); her grandchildren Claire, Adam, James, and Jacob; her sisters, Barbara Stratis (John), Cheryl Joy Behe (Anthony), and Margaret “Maggie” Mellone (Carl, Jr.); and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, August 10 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 West Main Street, Moorestown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the ALS Hope Foundation, the ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter, or Samaritan Life Enhancing Care.
