Obituary for David Russell Ellis Jr.
David Russell Ellis, Jr, age 80, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2024.
He was born in Collingswood, New Jersey to the late David R. and Irene (nee Turner) Ellis. He was a longtime active resident of Cherry Hill, NJ before moving to Mount Laurel in 1981. Prior to retiring in 1997, David was employed with the Cherry Hill Police Department for 31 years and worked his way up through the ranks to Detective. He was a member of the FOP and loved tending to his farm, horses and animals.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn E. (nee Sleda); his children, Dawn R. Wright and David R. Ellis; his grandchildren, Courtney Dina Skelley (Travis Skelley), Samantha Wright Davis (Albert Davis) and Devi Mary Ellis; his great grandson Quinn Ellis Skelley, and step grandchildren Lainey Davis and Skylar and sister Nancy Stiegler. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Dina Ruth Ellis and his sister Mary Ellis.
Family and friends are invited to attend David's visitation on Monday, February 19, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals 212 Ark Road Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 where the Memorial Ceremony will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00AM at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ
