Obituary for Denise J. Logan (Gorko)

Denise J. Logan, age 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20th.

Denise was born in Wurzburg, Germany to the late Jeanne and Thomas J. Gorko whom she adored and missed tremendously. Denise took great pride growing up in a “military family”, traveling the world for a majority of her childhood. Her family planted their military roots amongst fellow military families in Willingboro for many years. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School with lifelong friendships. Later she moved to Moorestown, NJ where she loved walking the late Peppermint Patty down Main Street. Denise cherished the many memories of her childhood with her beloved Bumma, her favorite memories being spent in Belgium. In her free time, Denise enjoyed baking, collecting recipes, watching Disney movies, and reading a good book under an umbrella on the warm LBI sand. Though she loved any adventure, she especially looked forward to Mother Daughter time at Phillies Spring Training and the annual Phillies Holiday events with Michelle. Her affinity to Leonidas was no secret, but she was always eager to indulge in anything chocolate with fellow Chocoholics Sophia & Andrew. Denise was a ray of sunshine with her bright smile, ironically often humming “You are my sunshine” while always taking care of everyone and putting the needs of others first. Denise embodied the definition of strength, humility, and determination… LIVING life gracefully for nearly 10,000 days since her first cancer diagnosis.

Denise is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle R. Logan of Moorestown; her sister, Patricia Bast of Toms River; her uncle, Joseph Janssens of Kontich (Belgium); her Aunt, Dolores Hughes; her nephew, Michael T. Roberts of Long Branch; her cousin, Patrick Janssens of Mortsel (Belgium); sisters of the Heart Sandy Meany of Moorestown, Bernadette Simon of Muizen (Belgium), Caroline Haschert of Summerville (South Carolina) ; Daughters of the Heart Krista Arndt of Boyertown, and Megan Walker of Moorestown; Grand Daughter of the Heart Olivia Arndt of Boyertown; Niece of the Heart Caitlin Dinsmore of Hightstown. Denise was the constant confidant, lovingly referred to as “Aunt Dee” and “Mom” by so many. Denise truly loved so many friends… too numerous to list! Current Smoochies that touched her heart are Daisy Duck, Franklin, Minni, Darcy, Desmond, Abigail, and Mr. Max. Denise will once again be reunited to cuddle with Tom Cat in a Tuxedo (BBT), Smuckers (Lovebug), Smokey Bear, and “the biggest golden ever” her baby, Linus. Denise was eternally grateful for the exemplary care provided by Dr. Lewis Rose and her Jefferson care team. If you happen to see an Edelweiss along life’s journeys, we hope you say a prayer simply reminding Denise that her beauty is always present in more than a ‘few of her favorite things.’

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Unite For Her, 127 E Chestnut Street, West Chester , P.A. 19380, or Willingboro Police K-9 Association, P.O.Box 354, Willingboro, NJ 08046. Invited family and friends are welcome to wear Denises’ favorite color, Pink, as we celebrate her life during a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W Main St, Moorestown, NJ 08057 at the family’s convenience. Interment will be private.
