Obituary for Deron Holder

Deron Holder, of Blackwood, NJ, passed away suddenly on January 11, 2022 at the age of 49.

Deron was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Beverly Collins and Michael Holder. In the early 1990’s, he worked for the Big Apple Circus in New York City. He enjoyed making people laugh, from randomly juggling in the grocery store, to practical jokes. He had an infectious laugh and gave words of encouragement to anyone who needed to hear them. He wore many professional hats in his lifetime, from working as a security guard, Xfinity technician, fixing homes, making granite countertops and providing Camden, NJ with entertainment, Deron did it all. He was a child of Brooklyn. Deron wanted to be productive and always moving. In his recent days, he discovered that he was good at, and loved to, take things apart to put them back together. He would buy broken cars, fix them to re-sell them, and took great pride in his creations. Anything he put his mind to he could accomplish.

Deron was Loved by many and understood by few. He had a kind and gentle heart despite his large frame and tough exterior. Anyone who truly became close to him grew to love him and could see all of his great qualities he had as a person. If there was someone in need of anything, he gave whatever he could and more. Even if he didn’t have it. This was something that he learned from his late Mother, Beverly. Deron was loyal, generous, smart, and a very good friend. One of his infamous lines was “All you have to do is ask.”

Deron is survived by his children, Courtney Holder, Justine Holder and Daisha Holder; daughter-in-love, Drenisha Hector; sister, Nicole Jones; aunts and uncles, Micheal Miller, Keith Miller, Andrea Miller, Natalie Aaron, Johnny Jones, Janet Peterson and Juan Peterson; first cousins. Tasha Peterson, Kasheem Peterson, Tabitha Miller-Ellis, Junior Foster, Jonathan Miller, Joshua Aaron, Juanita Miller, Micheal Miller, Keith Miller, Jr. Deslique Miller, and Deyonce Miller; and all his honorary family, The Ocean Avenue Crew: Mickey, Velton, Dike, Brent, Corey, Yakube, Charles, Paul, Mikey, (who he is with in Heaven now) and other family friends the McGirts, (Carla), and Kwame East.

Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday, January 23, 2022, from 10:00-11:00AM, followed immediately by a Celebration of his Life at 11:00AM. Both will be held at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
