Obituary for Diana Octavia Watson (Bailey)

Diana Octavia (Diann) Watson, 66, died on July 29, 2021. Diana was born in Trinidad on November 7, 1954 to late Joan Bailey and Hugh Bailey.

She began her elementary education attending Longdenville Government Primary Hindu School, where she was as a gifted student, and later moved to a Roman Catholic School in Chaguanas (RCS).After RCS, she continued her academic studies at South East Port of Spain secondary school.

The family moved to Orange, New Jersey in April of 1970.

Diana graduated from Orange High school 1972. While at Orange High she met David Watson. Thereafter, they began courting and got married in 1974.

She attended Union County college with emphasis in accounting. Diana began employment as a nurses’ assistant and elevated to a licensed practical nurse and worked in that field for over 20 years.

Diana was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. In 1977, she accepted Jesus Christ in her heart and received the gift of the Holy Spirit while at Englishtown Community Church of Christ and her life was forever changed. Over 40+ years, she served various church communities as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and missionary. At Epic International Church formerly known as Faith Fellowship Ministries World Outreach Center, Diana has been an active member since 2006 and mainly serving as a devoted choir member for over 10+ years. She loved God.

Diana was an impeccable dresser at all times and took pride in making her jewelry; she made sure that each member of her family owned a pearl neckless of her collection through Diana’s gem. As a seamstress she designed and taylored fashionable clothing. She also loved singing, gardening and of course — shopping.

Diana was a loving wife, devoted mother of five children, beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and going on vacations.

She is survived by her children, Tashiann, Aaron, Shawn, Reginald, and David Watson; grandchildren, Tanirah, Tionna, Tahnyah, Tashanae, Willie, Aaron Jr., Ayden, Aaliyah, Shawn Jr. and Ria; sisters, Ancilla Rishamway, and Jacqueline Jefferson; brothers, Grantley Bailey, Milton Bailey, and Tudor Bailey; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
