Doris Eleanor Moore Dolce of Hilton Head, SC, died on May 7, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born on September 29, 1934 in Riverside Park, NJ to parents Arthur and Estelle (Miller) Moore. After eighth grade, the family moved to Beverly. She attended Burlington High School where she met her future husband, and graduated in 1951 at the age of 16. After high school, she worked at Penn Mutual Life Insurance in Philadelphia before marrying her husband Bob at age 20 in 1955. They were married for 61 years, until Bob’s death in 2016. Doris started married life as a typical 1950s housewife, but soon broke out of that mold to keep up with her adventurous husband. She took flying lessons and received her private pilot’s license in 1967. She joined the 99s, an organization for women pilots, and soon became the Garden State Treasurer.  She even helped Kim’s Girl Scout Troop earn their Aviation badge. She was a supporter of women’s rights and often told Kim and Lori that her generation helped pave the way for the next. She always told her daughters that they could be what they wanted to be in life. After Kim left for college, she started working for Delaware Valley Wecolator.  She loved her job as a sales representative and excelled at it.

In addition to the 99s, she also belonged to the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. An excellent cook, she loved cooking for her family. She also loved reading and genealogy and movies, passions she enjoyed for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her nephew Brian K. Johnson of Maple Shade, NJ. She is survived by her sister Joan K. Moore Van Alstyne of Riverton, NJ, and daughters Kim Elizabeth Dolce of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Lori Karin (Jon) Clark of Hilton Head, SC, both of whom cared for her in her final years. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Brad Johnson (Lee) of Selbyville, DE, Bill Johnson (Nancy) of Riverside, NJ, Jeffrey Dolce (Mary Jane) of Birmingham, AL, Stephen Dolce (Maria) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Mark Dolce of Budd Lake, NJ, Kim Lauren Dolce (Jim) of Wiscasset, ME, and Joe Dolce (Sandy) of Clinton, CT.
