Obituary for Dorothy M Connell (Torrance)
Dorothy Mary Connell, 96, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her home in Annville, PA. She was born on March 5, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of William C. Torrance and Dorothy (Ingham) Torrance.
After attending Abington High School, Dorothy worked ford the Philadelphia Life Insurance Company. She met Robert Connell at Wagner’s Ballroom in 1948. They were married in 1950, settled in Mount Laurel, NJ and raised two children, Jeanie and Robert, Jr.
Dorothy and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed many happy occasions at their second home in Ocean City, NJ. They were active members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown, NJ.
Dorothy was devoted to her family and nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with them. She excelled at creating a warm and loving home and she enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings, including a July 4th family reunion and holiday celebrations.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Robert Connell, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Small and husband Michael; her son Robert Connell, Jr. and wife Susan; three grandchildren: Julie (Small) Palmer and husband Robert; Mark Robert Small and wife Lauren; and Katrina Suzanne Connell and fiance Eric Billman; one great-grandchild, Sophie Ann Palmer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 West Main Street, Moorestown, NJ. A Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place in Eldridge Cemetery in Mount Laurel, NJ.
