Obituary for Edward Vincent Widun Sr.

Edward V. Widun, Sr., was called home peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Ed was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on June 9, 1938 to the late Vincent and Beatrice Widun. He worked as a Salesman of Marketing for most of his career with many companies. During his work with the Defense Personnel Services Center (DPSC), he met his wife, Helen (nee Pitone).  They married on September 9, 1967 and moved to Mount Laurel, NJ in 1971.  Ed and Helen lived in Mount Laurel until 2018, when they relocated to Michigan to be closer to family.

Ed was strong in his faith and was active in the St. John Newman parish in Mount Laurel, NJ, serving as a lector, a Eucharistic Minister for the sick and homebound, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. More recently, he was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Novi, MI. In his free time, Ed enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren.

Ed is predeceased by his brother, Vincent Widun, Jr., and his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Widun.

He is survived by their son, Edward “EJ” (Kristin) Widun; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ethan; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ed’s viewing on Monday, February 26, from 9AM-10AM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30AM at Saint John Neumann Church, 560 Walton Avenue, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Interment Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
