Obituary for Evangelos Stefanou
Evangelos Stefanou, resident of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at the age of 91.
Evangelos was born in Sklithro, Greece to the late Vasilios and Magdalini Stefanou. He moved to the United States when he was a young adult and had resided in Collingswood, NJ and Cherry Hill, NJ before his current residence of Mount Laurel. Evangelos had been a member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), as well as a member of the St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church Board. He was a very hard worker and had owned three local restaurants throughout his life. In his free time, Evangelos loved to travel with his beloved wife of 64 years, Katy Stefanou, take trips to the beach with his family, and spend time with his grandchildren.
Evangelos is predeceased by his parents, Vasilios and Magdalini Stefanou, and siblings, Anthony Lazos and Vassilliki Katsioras. He is survived by his wife, Katy Stefanou; children, Bill, Nick, John, and Malinda (Paris); grandchildren, Evangelos, Nicoletta, Demitrios, Analisa, Vasilios, Gianna, Alanna, Odysseas, Alexandros, and Iasonas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Greece, America, and Canada.
Family and Friends are welcome to his viewing on Tuesday, March 9th 2021, from 12:30-1:30PM, followed immediately by a Funeral Service. Both will be held at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, 615 Mercer St, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. Interment will be at Locustwood Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
