Obituary for Florence Elizabeth Stanley (Jenkins)

Florence Elizabeth Stanley (nee Jenkins) was born May 12, 1932 in Elkton, Virginia to the late David and Pauline Jenkins and passed away peacefully on June 7, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born in Elkton, VA and lived in various locations in Virginia after her marriage on May 21, 1949 to Raymond Lynwood Stanley Sr. The couple subsequently moved to Delaware when her husband was transferred and then again to Hightstown, New Jersey for twenty years. Upon retirement she and “Lynwood” moved to Rehoboth, Delaware which was their happy place for many years. Recently she resided at the Cambridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Moorestown, NJ since December 2013.

Florence was a homemaker and mother with varied interests. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, making beautiful floral arrangements, country music, and a knack for baking (breads, cookies, pies). She also attended a ladies Bible study group for many years where she developed long-standing friendships. She also treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Lynwood Stanley and daughter Donna Rae Stanley. She is survived by her children Vicki Westhoven-Ring, Ray (R.L.) Stanley and Debra Birkenstamm. Additionally, she is survived by siblings Hilda Snow, Louise Monger and Clyde Jenkins; and 6 grandchildren and 14 great-children.

At the request of the family, services and interment will be private. Please make any contributions in her honor to Samaritan Hospice Care:
