Obituary for Florian James "Jim" Alex

Florian James Alex, 89 of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away at home on Friday July 3, 2020. Jim was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and resided in Wayne, NJ before moving to Mount Laurel in 1985. He bravely served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.

Jim worked for many years for Fellows Manufacturing as their sales manager before starting Alex Doherty Marketing Associates which became one of the largest manufacturing representatives groups in the office products industry.

Jim was beloved by his employees, customers and competitors for his willingness to mentor and his unwavering integrity.

Jim and Chris met in 1953 and were married for over 65 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Jim was very active and devoted to his church, Our Lady Queen of Peace. He enjoyed being an active volunteer in church projects and was a eucharistic minister.

Jim was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his magic card tricks and corny jokes.
Jim enjoyed going to the casino, the racetrack and playing the lottery.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Christine Alex; his children Vivienne and Steven Alex (Marissa); grandchildren, Lauren Farquhar, Erin Farquhar-Smith (Ray), Marina Alex, and Anthony Alex; great-grandson, Hazzard Farquhar; and a nephew, George Andrews. Jim was predeceased by his grandson, Joseph Willis Farquhar V.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate his funeral liturgy on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, 2:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ 08036. Final disposition will be private. Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Samaritan Health Care & Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
