Dr. Francis M. Sand, 90, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Although born in London, England, his formative years were spent living in Capetown, South Africa.  Francis has been a resident of Mount Laurel for the past 5 years and prior to that lived in Conway, South Carolina and Belle Mead, NJ.  He was an accomplished professor of mathematics and has shared his wealth of knowledge to many students and colleagues at prestigious universities such as Princeton and Fairleigh Dickinson.  Francis enjoyed making treasured memories with his wife and family, traveling and playing bridge.

Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Munnion) Sand; father of Gila, Jordan, and Michael Sand; loving stepfather of Robert R. Hvisdas, James M. (Joanne) Hvisdas and daughter in law Donna Hvisdas; devoted brother of Peter Sand; cherished grandfather of Sean, Christopher, and Ryan Hvisdas and great grandfather of Juliana, Lucas, and Patrick Hvisdas.  Francis is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Edith Georgina (Herzfeld) Sand.

A celebration of Francis’ life will be held privately.
