Obituary for Gaylord Charles "Jeff" Jeffers

Gaylord C. Jeffers, resident of Willingboro, NJ, age 88, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on January 6, 2021.

Gaylord was born in Beloit, Wisconsin to the late Mable Downey, who along with his stepfather Fenton Downey spent his childhood in Wisconsin. He had been residing in Willingboro for the past 55 years with his beloved wife Margaret Jeffers. He had bravely served in the United States Army during the Korean War before he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Gaylord was a loving husband to his wife Margaret, a wonderful dad to their 3 daughters, and fun loving poppop to their 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He worked as a Manager at AT&T in Cherry Hill, NJ for 30 years before his retirement in 1987. After his retirement he worked as a limousine driver and with Prudential Insurance Co. In his free time, Gaylord loved going to his grandchildren’s baseball games, school events and traveling with his family, especially to Myrtle Beach SC and Florida. Gaylord, also known as “Jeff,” to his friends and colleagues had a great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and playing pranks on others. He was a kind and gentle soul who always welcomed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren into his loving arms or to sit on his lap. He loved the simple things in life especially being at the beach. Gaylord will be remembered by his family as a “jack of all trades”. He would take care of major repairs in his home and the homes of his daughters’ and their families. Gaylord loved his family deeply and loved spending time with them. He will be missed dearly.

Gaylord is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Margaret Jeffers (nee Stefanick); daughters, Gail Rountree (John), Cynthia Jeffers Sayre (Kerry), and Denise McAneny (Kevin); siblings, Larry Downey (Marilyn), June Egstad (Bill), and Carol Huss (Tom); grandchildren, John Rountree (Denise), Christopher Rountree, Kristen Barbadoro (John), Bradley Johnson (Alexis), Matthew McAneny (Leanne), Brittany Raposo (Matthew), Allison Johnson, and Courtney Cubberley; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Heidi Rountree, Hailey and Rylie Johnson, Savannah and Stella Raposo, Mileena and John Conner Barbadoro, and Ellie McAneny.
