Genevieve B. Jenkins, lovingly known as "Nana" by her grandchildren and “Georgie” by friends and family, passed away on August 15, 2022. She was 86 years old.
Georgie was born on March 19, 1936 to Genevieve and George Bryson and grew up with her sister, Jean, and brother, George, in Laurel Springs, NJ. She lived in a town surrounded by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Georgie graduated from Ursinus College and became an English teacher for Palmyra High School. She met the love of her life, Raymond Jenkins, on a blind date and they were married May 10,1958. They settled down in Mt. Laurel for the next 55 years. Although she stepped away from teaching professionally to have children, she never stopped being a teacher. She was a reading teacher at Fleetwood Elementary, taught at TOPS, an alternative program for adolescent girls and tutored adults who had difficulty reading.
She was strong in her faith to God and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Moorestown, NJ. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as a women's circle leader, taught vacation bible school and was a Stephen's Minister. Georgie was always volunteering whether it was the PTA, Girl Scout leader, band parent or football parent.
Other than her faith, nothing was more important to Georgie as her family, especially her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with all of them. Georgie is preceeded by her husband, Raymond Jenkins and her sister Jean McCracken. She is survived by her children, Laura Koppisch (Luke), Rebecca Van Stone (Jim) and Matthew Jenkins (Donna); brother, George Bryson and sister-in-law, Beverly; grandchildren, Aaron Koppisch, Lauren and Peyton Van Stone, and Bryson, Indy and Genevieve Jenkins. Georgie leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Brandywine Living and Cambridge Rehabilitation in Moorestown, NJ for their loving care of Genevieve.
