Gerald (Jerry) Kushner, age 83, of Marlton, NJ passed away while surrounded by loving family on Monday, December 9, 2019.

Dr. Kushner was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA before moving to Marlton in 2015. He was extremely passionate about education, devoting his life to teaching. He was known for making a huge impact in his student’s lives. He also had a thirst for knowledge, ultimately achieving his Doctorate in Urban Education. Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and would always light up the room with his bright smile. Above all, Jerry cherished spending time with his wife of over 60 years, Rhoda, as well as his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

Jerry is survived by his beloved spouse, Rhoda Kushner; devoted daughters, Laurie Korth, Sharon Kushner, Hope Kushner; favorite grandchildren, Amanda and Bryan Korth; and all of his extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 11:00 to 12:00 PM immediately followed by the memorial service, both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Interment will follow at Locustwood Cemetery, 1500 Marlton Pike West, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I remember him as being one of the nicest people on earth. It has been some years since I saw him last, but my parents always thought the world of him and they were certainly right. My sincere condolences to the family. Though we have lost touch over the years as our kids have grown and life has moved on, know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

I remember being in Mr. Kushner's fifth grade class at Rhawnhurst School in the 1963-64 school year, which may have been his first year teaching there. His class was especially memorable because he allowed students to "make a wish" on their birthday. With a November birthday, I was one of the first to experience this gift that year. Other students wanted me to ask for extra recess or something like that but I remember that we were going to have a test the next day and I asked that it be postponed a day so I wouldn't have to study on my birthday. He granted that wish and I thought I was such a lucky girl! I'm sure he made an impact on many other lives in his long teaching career.
May God bless his family with comfort and peace at this time.
Nancy (Mohr) Marshall

Was one of the very best teachers Rhawnhurst ever had. He will be missed by all of his Rhawnhurst family.
