Obituary for Gerald Franklin "Jerry" Yeager

Gerald (Jerry) F. Yeager, Sr, 91, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday February 26th 2023 at Brightview Senior Living Center. 

Jerry was born Feb 20, 1932 to the late Kenneth Yeager and Mary E. Hilley in Philadelphia PA, he was the middle of 7 children. They lived in Germantown and later moved to a row home in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia. He and his brothers later built the family home in Cherry Hill, NJ. Jerry bravely served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea in 1954, Jerry married his sweetheart, Helen M. Cummins, and moved to Mt. Laurel together.  They were married for 66 years until her death in August 2022.  He worked as an Elevator Mechanic from High School until his retirement in 1990.  He was a longtime member of Local 5 IUEC. In his free time, he enjoyed boating and camping. He was a CB radio enthusiast (handle Push Button call letters KKG4371), Life member of the VFW, member of the NCHA, Knights of Columbus. He was a devote Roman Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Hainesport NJ, where he was an usher at the 9AM mass for many years.

Jerry is predeceased by his beloved wife Helen, daughter Judy and his siblings, Kenny, Lois Malcolm, Patricia Wagner, Jimmy, Eddie and Gilbert. He is survived by his children Gerald (Jerry) F. Yeager, Jr., Carolyn M. Mostak (Ed) & Cheryl A. Szuchy (Chris) and grandchildren Bryanna Mostak, Paul Mostak, Jaclyn Cruz (Christian), Christine Szuchy and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to his viewing on Wednesday March 1st, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 2, 2023 at 11:00AM, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1603 Marne Hwy, Hainesport NJ 08036.  Interment will follow at Jesus, Bread of Life Cemetery in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
