Obituary for Gloria Therese Timmins (Iodice)
Gloria Therese Timmins, 93, died peacefully on October 8 at her home in Falls Church, Virginia.
Gloria was born on May 9, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, to Louis and Laura Iodice. She was cherished not only by her parents but also by her two older sisters, Francis and Rosalie. Gloria was a proud graduate of Washington Irving High School in Manhattan, where she majored in dressmaking. After high school, she held a number of positions, including working in the bridal department of Best & Co. in Manhattan.
She met the love of her life, John T. Picone, on December 12, 1948, and they were married six months later, on June 12, 1949. For many years, Gloria enjoyed being a full-time homemaker and raising their five children. Eventually, she went back to work in the retail industry, at Macy’s in Langhorne, PA, where she was employed for 27 years.
After her husband John’s death in 1985, Gloria married Carl Timmins in 1991. They enjoyed a full and happy life together before his death in 2019. That year she moved from Mount Laurel to Falls Church to live with her daughter and husband.
Gloria is survived by her five children: John V. (Deborah); Patricia (John); Thomas (Stephanie); James (Linda); and Mark (Kim); a stepdaughter, Susan Timmins; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Gloria at a viewing on Monday, October 17, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 560 Walton Ave., Mount Laurel, NJ. Internment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA.
