Obituary for James Harold Hambrose

James Harold Hambrose, 58, of Eastampton, New Jersey, passed away on December 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim grew up in Haddon Heights, New Jersey as part of a large, loving family, and was a former resident of Medford for 20 years.  Whether you knew him as Jim, car number 3, or Famer, Jim had an incredible work ethic and wasn't afraid of hard work.  His work with former employers, such as Comcast, Pearson, Simon and Schuster and Ernst and Young enabled him to travel to such places as Australia, Mexico City, Canada, England, Singapore, and Japan.  During these excursions, his life was enriched by lifelong friends.  Along with the work, a little play came into the picture and Jim was able to join the Pearson Panthers as their ice hockey goalie...something he had no experience with, but as always, Jim put in the work, and they soon won their first championship.  He also played for his former employer’s team, Comcast's Cable Guys ice hockey team.

Jim held many passionate pursuits and cars were towards the top of the list.  He stayed up to date on the industry and enjoyed reading auto magazines.  Each of his own vehicles, 1971 Super Beetle, Volvo C30, Audi S4 wagon, Dodge Ram pick-up truck, Kath's Tesla or his Lotus Evora, all held a special place in his heart.  In the summer of 2017, Jim and Kieran took the Lotus Evora on a road rally that started in Toronto, and they traveled for 5 days logging 1800 miles.  It was during that trip that they passed Loon Lake where Jim and Kathleen eventually purchased their lake house.

The top of the list for Jim's passions was his family, both immediate and extended.  He was devoted to them.  During his college years, Jim met the love of his life, Kathleen, and he knew that she was "the one."   His pride in his family, especially his two sons, Gavin and Kieran was immense; he was their biggest fan and so incredibly proud of the caring and thoughtful young men that they turned out to be.

Jim was an avid cyclist, loved his Bernese Mountain dogs, hiking in the Adirondack’s, and keeping himself busy with home projects.  He was a huge fan of Tom Petty and taught himself how to play the drums.  He was a man with a huge kind heart, funny nature, including his Donald Duck voice. His memory will be held close in the hearts of those who loved him.

Beloved husband of 32 years to Kathleen G. (nee Gallagher); devoted father of Gavin (Maggie) and Kieran Hambrose; dear brother of John (Meg) Hambrose, Tom Hambrose, Stephanie (Mark) Baloh, Harold (Johanna) Hambrose, Christopher (Nancy) Hambrose, and Nan (Ronny) Hambrose. Jim is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.  He is predeceased by his parents John and Maryann (nee Wescott) Hambrose.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's visitation on Sunday, December 10, 2023, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey 08054, where the Memorial Ceremony will follow at 2:00 PM.
