Obituary for James Heisler

James Heisler, age 52, passed away on August 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia who was born and raised in Tacony and settled in the Winchester Park section. Jim attended St. Leo School and worked as the maintenance custodian for many years. Jim graduated from Central High School in 1987 (246th graduating class) and received his undergraduate and MBA degrees from LaSalle University. Jim was a Certified Financial Planner and an IRS enrolled agent along with holding many other professional designations. Jim advanced quickly in his career as a financial analyst, advisor and tax professional working with ARAMARK and Vanguard before starting his own firm, Family Wealth Services in 2005. Jim and his partner Kevin started Heisler Hughes Financial Group in 2012. When he wasn’t working around the clock, Jim was always there for his family and friends. Jim coached CYO basketball and served on the CYO board. Jim also served on St. Jerome's finance committee and its Board of Limited Jurisdiction. Jim enjoyed weekend trips to Brigantine, golfing with friends and family, monthly breakfast with gym friends, baking and caring for his beloved lawn. Jim always cherished the time spent with his family.

He was predeceased by his father, James R. Heisler. Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Paula (nee Stumpo); his children, Liam, Addison and Gavin; his mother, Rosemary J. Heisler; his siblings, Joseph Heisler (Theresa), Rosemary Gigliotti (Joseph), John Heisler (Ciara) and Katie Heisler. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 and again, on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 9:00-10:30 AM at St. Jerome Church, 8100 Colfax Street, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to St. Jerome School 3031 Stamford Street, Philadelphia, PA 19136 or to Father Judge High School, 3301 Solly Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
