Obituary for Joan Unis Garland
Joan Gabriela Marie Unis Garland, age 88, of Delran, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
Mrs. Garland was born in Hazelton, PA, grew up and started a family in Baltimore, MD, and lived with her family in Brook Park, OH before relocating to Delran. Joan served as the head of the bereavement committee at Holy Name Parish in Delran for many years.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Leo Francis; her parents Gabriel and Adeline Unis; her sister Kathryn and brother-in-law Roman Dudek; her sister-in-law Rose Burke, and her nephew Paul Dudek. She is survived by her children; Patrick Garland (Joyce), Kathleen Garland-Breisacher (Christian), Michael Garland (Stacy), Christopher Garland (Jake Schoolmeesters); her grandchildren; Lauren Dustman (Kyle Jacob), Jennifer Garland (Tiffany Hughes), Ryan Garland (Danielle North), Shane Garland (Hannah Carroll), Alicia Garland (Emin Gunaydin), Dave Breisacher (Bethany) and Shawn Breisacher (Jen); her great-grandchildren, Molly Garland, Zachary Breisacher, Carson Breisacher and Alex Breisacher; her brother-in-law Tom Burke, and her nieces and nephews, Millie Book (Ed), Judi Dudek, Leticia Dudek, Joe Dudek (Michelle), Joanne Burke, Christy Haddox, and Kathy Kessler (Scott).
The family would like to thank the incredible and selfless staff at Brightview Assisted Living in Mt. Laurel, NJ for the amazing care they provided to Mrs. Garland over the past several years, and for providing her with her glass of wine every happy hour.
Out of concern for public health during the current pandemic, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to The Catholic High School of Baltimore Maryland at tchs@thecatholichighschool.com.
