Obituary for Joane H. Doulong

Joane Huff Doulong of Marlton, NJ, passed away on Wednesday March 8, 2023. She was 88 years old.

Jo was born in Washington, D.C. where she attended Anacostia High school and met Don Doulong, her high school sweetheart and future husband of 62 years. Jo and Don attended Marietta College together and later lived in many states, including NY, VA, MA, NC, CT and finally New Jersey. While raising four children, Jo’s many interests included singing in the church choir, writing, and mission work. She was a late bloomer as an athlete.  She enjoyed golf and was especially passionate about tennis, where she achieved a rating of 4.0 in her USTA league. She continued to play well into her 80’s. Jo was also a long-time member of P.E.O. – a service-oriented Philanthropic Educational Organization that promotes women’s education. She served as CT state president for P.E.O. in 2001.  Regardless of where she lived, Jo was a person who always immersed herself in the community. She enjoyed 33 years in CT before coming to Marlton, NJ in 2008 to retire near her family. Jo treasured spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew her always commented on Jo’s smile and warm friendly ways. She will be deeply missed.
