Jack (John) Grimaldi Eulogy
The Call of Our Father
In his Final Hours at the end of the road,
Our Okinawa war survivor with dogged face,
Had not have to discover, nor regret,
That he had not lived, losing the race.
As we Recall and Remember,
The sounds we mortals left behind will hear,
Will be as he was, a father, our guardian and faithful husband,
During this time we mourn, reflecting on better times of yesteryear.
From the Silence he Whispers,
And deeper still, we search and find,
His gravelly voice, his stoic manner and neighborly good cheer,
And memories echo from deep within, our soul and mind.
What he taught us by example and tenacity,
Will long remain within our hearts,
As bagpipes play the tune of gentle tears,
The melody gently lingers, as he departs.
We then will hear his message crystal clear,
Left to us in the stillness of the early morn,
And from the dawn’s early mist and gentle winds,
Will come the Call of Our Father, for whom we mourn…
In Memory of our Father, born as Giacchino/Jack in Providence, Rhode Island.
Giuseppe and Rosa’s 12th son of 13, Jack was raised in Federal Hill’s Italian neighborhood.
He was the Last of his Clan to Pass - the Last of the Mohicans,
Yet his best hours were with Anna Maria, his Partner in Crime.
