Obituary for John L Miller Jr.
John Miller, age 79, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away in the comfort of his own home while surrounded by loving family on Friday, October 11, 2019.
Mr. Miller was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and had resided in Northeast Philadelphia for over 30 years before moving to Mount Laurel 19 years ago. John had great appreciation for the outdoors. He built a vacation home in the Arrowhead Lakes section of the Poconos where he was able to enjoy whitewater rafting, fishing, sailing, swimming and skiing. His other passions included painting, photography, fine wine and cooking exceptionally good food. But above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and good friends. John will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
John is survived by his beloved spouse, Jane Miller; daughters, Susan Henton (Joe), Jane DeVere (Jim), and Annemarie Smith; 6 adoring grandchildren, Krysti and Jake Henton, Justin and Nicole Smith, Emily DeVere, Jessica Hunter, and great-grandchildren, Luke and Kyle Hunter. John was also preceeded in death by his parents John and Frances Miller, and his sister, Ann Birnbach. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Miller and Marie Warshofsky (Jay) as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM immediately followed by mass of the Christian burial, both at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the Our Lady Queen of Peace Building Fund at the address above.
