Joseph Patrick Behan, age 92, of Mount Laurel, NJ, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. 

Joseph was born on February 3, 1931 to the late Alice and Joseph Behan in Bronx, NY. He served in Korea with the 5th regimental combat team from 1950-1953. Upon returning home he became a Federal Bank Examiner and later went on to be a vice president at Citibank at the time of his retirement. He served as president of his local Rotary International on Long Island. An active member of Holy Family parish in Hicksville, New York he was a member of the Holy Name Society, Nocturnal Adoration Society and the Knights of Columbus. In retirement he was active in sailing and became an accomplished painter.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen (nee Rooney); his daughter, Ellen Behan-Heinbockel; grandchildren Eric (Madeline) and Andrew Heinbockel and Alexander and Patrick Shayer. He is also survived by his sons in law Steve Heinbockel and Andy Shayer. He was happy to meet his first great grandchild, Brooke one week before his passing. Joe was predeceased by his son Jody and daughter Gerri, brothers Gerard, James and Lawrence and sister Teresa Coleman. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather he will be sorely missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joseph’s Memorial Mass on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church located at 42 West Main Street Moorestown, NJ 08057.
