Obituary for Kevin Patrick Allen

Kevin Patrick Allen, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2020 at Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ.
He was born January 7, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward and Marie(O’Halloran) Allen. Kevin is survived by his daughters Jaime Allen and Colleen Allen; his grandson, Aidan Walters; his brother Edward Allen; his nephew, Stephen Allen and his niece, Julie Allen. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Evelyn Allen and identical twin brother Brian Allen. He was raised in Long Island, NY and after graduating High School, he moved to San Francisco, CA where he worked as a longshoreman. He later moved back to the East coast to New Jersey where he began his lifelong career as a tree climber and landscaper. He owned a landscaping business for several years until he became employed by Lower Merion School District, where he worked in the groundskeeping department until he retired. He was a member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous, proudly being clean and sober for over 40 years. He found great pleasure in helping others. Kevin was the founder and president of the Acquitted Motorcycle Club, a clean and sober bike club whose members just loved to ride. He was also a member of Fellowship Community Church in Mount Laurel, NJ, where he was an active member of their Celebrate Recovery group. In his free time, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing/crabbing and gardening, but most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. Kevin found an immense amount of pride and joy in being a father but even more in being a grandfather. One of his favorite things to do was attend his grandson’s baseball games and musical theater performances. Kevin had a love for fishing from a very young age and enjoyed sharing that activity with friends and family. Kevin had a strong compassion for animals no matter how big or small, loved nature and was a free spirit.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 10-11am at the Fellowship Community Church 1520 Hainesport Rd, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Justice Rescue at https://justice-rescue.com/pages/donate
