Obituary for Manfred J. Koop

Manfred J. Koop, age 88, of Mt. Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023.

Manfred was born in Dorsten, Germany to the late Anna Luzak and Hubert Koop. He met and married his hometown sweetheart and together they moved to the United States in 1959, where he bravely served in the United States Army.

Manfred graduated from the College of Engineering in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, where he majored in mechanical design. He was a frequent speaker on valuation issues in the United States, Europe, and South America. Manfred worked for Marshall & Stevens Incorporated for 39 years, during which time he held the positions of senior appraiser, director, and vice president.  Manfred was an accredited senior appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers in Machinery and Technical Specialties.  He was also a senior certified valuer of the International Real Estate Institute, and a member of the Commercial Panel of the American Arbitration Association.  Manfred worked internationally and was multilingual.

Manfred’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and as a father and grandfather, he was present for every event, big or small.  In his earlier days, he enjoyed woodcarving, home remodeling, and fishing.

Manfred was the beloved husband of the late Maria Koop for 63 years, and loving father of Bettina Bride (Jim) and the late Kenneth Koop. Cherished Opa to Brianna Bride (Jordan Weiss) and Kayla Bride, dear brother of Hedel Tertilt.

At the request of the family, services will be private.
