Margaret Theresa Fitzpatrick (Gallagher)

Margaret T. Fitzpatrick, age 91, of Mt. Laurel, NJ., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Ellen (Mannion) Gallagher, and was raised in Germantown. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school and was a 1949 graduate of Little Flower High School.  She has resided in her Mt. Laurel (Rancocas Woods) home for over 68 years. She worked as an After School Aide for the Mount Laurel Hartford School until her retirement in 2014. She had previously worked at Perry, Inc. in Hainesport and before that at Burlington County Trust Co. as a bank teller.  In her free time, Margaret enjoyed couponing, bargain hunting, chatting with strangers at the supermarket, eating and sharing her candy, and, although she never bet much, going to the casinos. She also enjoyed traveling and telling stories of her adventures—like white water rafting and flying in a hot air balloon. But above all else, Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was known to them - and all of their friends - as “Grannie”.

Margaret is predeceased by her beloved spouse of 38 years, Daniel J. Fitzpatrick, Sr., her grandson, Ryan J. Fitzpatrick, and her brothers, Eugene, Thomas, and Hugh.  She is survived by her children, Daniel J. Fitzpatrick, Jr. (Pat), Sharon Fitzpatrick, Gregory Fitzpatrick (Julie), and Dara Fitzpatrick (Mark Shaffer); grandchildren, Nicole Sullivan (Robby), Christina Matthews (Justin), Eric Harbinson, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Casey Shaffer, Cameron Fitzpatrick, Valerie Shaffer, and Spencer Fitzpatrick; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Chase Matthews; Also survived by her beautiful sister, Mary Helsen (Jerry) and many “favorite” nieces and nephews.

Please join us as we celebrate the Lustrous Life and Lasting Legacy of Margaret “Peggy” Fitzpatrick on her birthday, April 30th, 2023 Our sweet, sassy, sparkly “Mommy” and “Grannie” would have been 92 this year! And we plan to mark her special day in high style with plenty of food, laughter, music and memories. Of course, there will be candy – because she always told us she was 99% sugar! And she shared her confections and her infectious zest for life with everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. If you are one of these lucky people, please stop by to visit with family. Be sure to wear something fabulous – baubles and bangles are not only optional but highly encouraged.
