Obituary for Marilyn "Lynn" Koerner (Brodish)

Marilyn Koerner (Brodish), affectionately known as "Lynn" and “Grandmom”, of Mt Laurel, NJ, passed away on August 20, 2022. She was 86 years old. Lynn is survived by her devoted sons, Alan and Kevin Koerner and four grandchildren Shauna, Brett, Jake and Hannah.

Lynn was the loving wife of the late Thomas Koerner and the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Betty Brodish. She was the younger sister of the late Corinne Cohen and late brother-in-law Arthur Cohen and survived by nephews, Randy and Hal Cohen, niece, Shari Sheptinski, nieces-in-law Vicki and Nancy Cohen and nephew-in-law Roy Sheptinski.

Lynn was born on April 29, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Queens. After graduating high school, she attended a couple years of college and became an executive secretary. During that time, she met and fell in love with Tom, also from Queens, while vacationing in Nantucket. They married January 26, 1964 and Lynn soon devoted her life to family as they welcomed their first son in November, while living in Flushing, NY. In 1972, Lynn and Tom relocated with their two boys to Cherry Hill, NJ.

Nothing meant more than being a Mom and she stayed home with them full time until they were in school and worked at Bamberger’s later bought by Macy’s until she retired working for years in the wedding and registry department. She did this while heading the household while ensuring the health of some medical issues that affected her husband and youngest son. After her children had grown and moved out, they moved to Mount Laurel, NJ. She later became a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren. She could always be counted on and was a big help.
Besides her devotion to her family, Lynn was an avid reader, enjoyed exercising with Zuma being one of her favorites, but mainly just socializing with friends as a couple and individually whether it be tile games like Mahjong and Rummikub, playing scrabble with her grandkids or even “not the best” bowling in couples leagues. When you sum up Lynn she always put family before herself.
