Obituary for Michael Jay Hensley Jr.

In loving memory of Michael J. Hensley Jr.

Michael Hensley of Burlington, New Jersey, born March 3, 1978 entered eternal rest on January 11, 2024.  His loss is completely unexpected and his family and friends are deeply saddened.

Mike is survived by his two daughters Madison and Mia Hensley; his parents Cynthia McDonald (Donald McDonald) and Michael Hensley Sr. (Jaci Pigott); his sibling Deena Hensley and his grandfather Anthony Leonard. He is proceeded by his grandmother Dolores Leonard and his grandfather William Hensley.

Mike was a devoted and dedicated father. His girls were the light of his life. He was an avid golfer and a great one at that. He cherished every moment spent on the golf course with his grandfather. Mike was a free spirit, loud and had a contagious laugh. So charismatic and it all came from his heart. Nobody loved you the way he did and he vocalized it everyday. There was so much to admire about him. His magnetism was almost embarrassing. Larger than life and always cool, without even trying. So handsome. Always authentic. Fast thinker and good improviser. Quick witted and hysterically funny. A great story teller. Silence didn’t exist while in his presence. Incredibly disarming, he’d treat the bank president, no different than the guy cutting grass. He didn’t know a stranger. It truly brought him joy making others smile. What a smile he had too. So many depended on him to brighten their day and bring happiness. You could count on him for that everyday. He truly loved life. His absence leaves an indescribable void in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers spend time with your family. Hug them ever so tightly. Go out to dinner, eat a steak and wash it down with a corona with a lime. Thats what Mike would’ve wanted. Then take a picture and tag him on Facebook.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday January 17, 2024 from 5-8 pm at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals.  His Funeral Service will take place on Thursday January 18, 2024 at 10Am at the funeral home.  Entombment will immediately follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Riverside, NJ.
