Obituary for Michael A Meany

Michael A. Meany, age 81 died Monday, December 21, 2020 at Virtua Hospital
of complications due to Covid 19.

A lifelong resident of Moorestown, NJ, he was born Dec. 30, 1938 in Mt. Holly, son of Verona
and Michael A. Meany Sr., both deceased.
Mike, as he was known to his friends, graduated from Moorestown High
School in 1956 and entered US Navy. After he was discharged, He worked for RCA
Global Engineering spending time in Thule, Greenland and aboard the USNS Coastal
Sentry. While on the sea he was involved in air to ground communications with the
first man on the moon. Mike was a Ham Radio operator, W2OF. He was active in
The Frankford Radio Club and Burlington Radio Club for many years. He was an
avid boater; volunteered many hours on the Battleship New Jersey permanently
moored on the Delaware River in Camden, NJ.

Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra B. Meany; son, Michael S. Meany
& partner, Amy Simpson of Marlton; daughter, Megan L. Meany & partner Alan
Walker of Moorestown; sister, Catherine Haumann of Mt Laurel and three
grandchildren; Sophia Meany, Gabrielle Meany & Genevieve Meany.
Service of remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those
wishing to remember Mike in a special way may make donations to St Matthew
Lutheran Church, 318 Chester Ave., Moorestown, NJ 08057
