Obituary for Michael Louis Pleasant

Michael Louis Pleasant, 67, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, Voorhees, New Jersey.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Frances (nee Watkins) and Louis Pleasant. Mike was a resident of Mount Laurel, New Jersey since 1999. Mike was a proud graduate of Overbrook High School Class of “72.” He subsequently attended West Chester University during which time he pledged as a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. One of Mike’s most enduring passions related to his experiences as a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Mike retired from the US Post Office on May 1, 2021. On April 18. 2021, he received a Letter of Appreciations and Service Award Pin in commemoration of 40 years of service to our country and the public at large.

Mike was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. His other interests/passions included: viewing movies in his home theatre, collecting all kinds of paraphernalia, and photography. Mike’s skills as a photographer are memorialized in the photos of hundreds of family events, distributed to participants on thumb drives. Many of those photos are also displayed on the wall of Family Memories in the home he shared with Arlene, his wife and love of his life,

Michael is survived by his wife, Arlene D. (nee Lima) Pleasant; Son Mark Francis; Sister Karen McLeod (Jack); Step son Jack Soares (LaVicki); Grandchildren Dimere, Marquez, Miyana, Neveah, Lydell, Olivia, Malindia, and Florina; and Great Granddaughter Nahiila.

The Celebration of The Life of Michael Louis Pleasant will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, 08054. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, immediately followed by the Memorial service, at 11:00 AM. The family encourages donations to one of Mike’s favored charities the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) https://naacp.org/donate or a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers.
