Obituary for Norman Richard Landry

Norman R. Landry, age 88, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey passed away on January 26, 2024. Norm was born in Northbridge, Massachusetts on August 12, 1935 to the late Arthur and Loretta Landry.

Norman was married to Madeleine (Maddy), the love of his life, for 62 years and they raised four children together.  Norm started his working career as a paperboy in his hometown.  After earning his B.S.E.E degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1957, Norm joined the United States Army and was selected to serve as an electronics instructor in Huntsville, Alabama.  Norm joined the Missile & Surface Radar division of RCA in Moorestown, New Jersey in 1959.  He worked in the Transmitter Design, Advanced Technology Programs, and Antenna, Microwaves & Transmitter Systems activities.  Norman had a successful and distinguished career as an electrical engineer.  He earned his M.S.E.E degree from Drexel Institute of TechnologyHe was recognized for his technical contributions and was the proud recipient of more than a dozen U.S. patents for his designs of microwave components for radar systems.  He wrote and presented many technical papers and was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi and IEEE.

Norm put his engineering background to use around the home too.  He built his own television, stereo, organ, oscilloscope, and automated fish feeder.  Norm was an avid gardener and landscaper.   He was proud of awards that he won from the township for his beautiful yard.   Norm and Maddy enjoyed sharing the bounty from their summer vegetable gardens with neighbors, friends and family.  Norm and Maddy always enjoyed traveling and spending time together. After Norm retired, they were able to travel extensively within the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Norm is predeceased by his devoted wife Madeleine, and his brothers Bernard (Velma) and Donald.  Norm is survived by his children, Lisa Mohr (Robert), Linda Hagelstein (Charles), Karen Renzulli (Richard), and Michael Landry; his grandchildren, Carolyn Nissley (Christian), Robert Mohr (Caryla), Amy Rouselle (Anthony), James Hagelstein (Stephanie), Christine Barmoy (Chase), Anthony Renzulli (Jillian), Leo Landry, and Max Landry; his great-grandchildren, Avery, Ayden, Gideon, Temperance, June, James, Chase, JosephTimothy and Juliette; and his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are welcome to his viewing on Thursday, February 1st from 8:30-10:00AM at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30AM at Corpus Christi Church, 11 S Sunset Rd, Willingboro, NJ 08046. Entombment at Jesus, Bread of Life Cemetery will immediately follow mass, 3055 Fostertown Rd, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Norm’s memory may be made to Corpus Christi Church.
