Obituary for Oliver Sawyer "Al" Colbridge III

Oliver (Al) Sawyer Colbridge III, 85, passed away in the comfort of his own home while surrounded by family on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Al was born on October 6th, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Oliver Jr and Rose. He graduated from Northeast High School and shortly after married his highschool sweetheart, Dawn, in 1953. He went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard from 1954-1958 and obtained the rank of BM2, Boatswain's Mate Second class. Al was awarded two medals while serving: National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. A few years later, he received a bachelor's degree from Lasalle University.

Throughout Al’s life he was primarily a salesman working for Standard Press Steel, March Realty, and Lake’s Appliance & TV amongst others. In his free time he enjoyed traveling the world, cruises, playing and coaching baseball, bocceball, and participated in various community social events. Al was a third degree knight in the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the church, regularly participating in the ministering of the Holy Communion.

Al was predeceased by his loving wife, Dawn, their youngest son, Michael, and his siblings Norma and Robert. He was survived by his eldest son, Thomas Colbridge and his wife Jennifer, his daughter in law, Trish, his grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Ryan, Shawn, Morgan, Caitlyn, and Casey, his brother in law, Lou Diering, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be severely missed by those that he has left behind.

Viewings will be held on Wednesday, March 31st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Thursday, April 1st from 9:00am to 10:00am followed by funeral processions starting at 10:00am all at the Mt Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
