Obituary for Patricia Anne Brooks (Spong)

Patricia Anne Brooks (nee Spong), of Southampton, NJ, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15th at Wiley Christian Retirement Community in Marlton, NJ.

Patricia was born on December 10, 1943 to the late Florence E and Leonard J Spong in Cherry Hill, NJ. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph Spong. She was strong in her faith in God and carried that through to her family.  A former member of Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly where she started her mission to help the poor by volunteering for St. Vincent De Paul Society. Patricia loved the mission work so much, she eventually served as President of the St. Vincent De Paul Society of the Diocese of Trenton. She spoke at conferences to try to educate other parishes to be a part of this mission for the poor. She was a longtime Director of Religious Education at Resurrection Parish in Delran until 2017. She decided then to adopt a rescue dog named Bella, who she loved dearly and took care of and found peace in her Koi pond. Patricia owned a travel agency prior to her mission work, where she was able to travel to over 20 countries, many with her long time best friends, Michele Ivory & Marge McGinley. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose smile would light up a room. She will be missed deeply by her loved ones.

Patricia is predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald E Brooks Sr.  She is survived by her children, Kathleen M Jordan (Richard), Stephen J Brooks (Dina), Ronald E Brooks Jr (Jennifer), Mark E Brooks (Heather), and Robyn E Vedua (late Ben); 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Taylor; and many other family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Patricia’s visitation on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 9AM to 10AM, at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
