Obituary for Patrick Joseph Fitzpatrick

Patrick Joseph Fitzpatrick (Joe), age 97, of Hainesport, NJ passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in Philadelphia, PA to Michael and Mary (Rowley) Fitzpatrick who both emigrated from Ireland. He resided in Willingboro, NJ before moving to Hainesport 17 years ago. Patrick served his country honorably during WWII within the US Navy serving on the USS Decker, a destroyer protecting convoys and other ships from German submarines and fighter aircraft in the dangerous North Atlantic Ocean waters. He was a devoted long-time member of Corpus Christi RC Church in Willingboro, NJ, one of the very first parishioners. He worked for 44 years for ARCO in Refinery Operations in Philadelphia retiring in 1985.

He was loved by all whose paths he crossed and his smile, warm welcomes, laughter and vivid story telling were enjoyed by all. He was proud of his Irish heritage sharing his research of the family’s Irish roots with his children and grandchildren, one of his everlasting gifts to them. He loved the simple things in life - time with friends, summers at the Jersey shore, walks on the beach, sunsets on the bay, reading books and listening and singing to music. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and left an everlasting impression on them with his love and ability to make each one feel very special. He will be deeply missed by his family and also his many friends and relatives.

Joe is survived by his beloved spouse of 71 years, Rosalie Fitzpatrick (nee Payne); children, Sharon Fitzpatrick, Michael Fitzpatrick, Kevin Fitzpatrick (Lorraine), Brian Fitzpatrick (Mary Ellen); grandchildren, Ryan Joseph Fitzpatrick (Jaclyn), Matthew Brian Fitzpatrick (Anna), Megan Mary Fitzpatrick, Daniel Patrick Fitzpatrick; great-grandchildren, Keira Anne Fitzpatrick, Riley Saoirse Fitzpatrick; brother-in-law, Joseph A.
