Obituary for Peter W. St. Vincent

Peter William St. Vincent (Pedro) of Hainesport, NJ, passed away on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26th, 2020, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He celebrated his 90th birthday two months prior.

Peter was born in Passaic, NJ, to Justo St. Vincent and Lina St. Vincent (née Del Papa). He was raised in Brooklyn, NY.

He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy as a flight instructor during the Korean War. During that time, he met the love of his life, Marie Martin, at Villa Garcia in Plattekill NY, where many Basque families took their vacations. The two were married for sixty-six years.

The couple settled in West Paterson, NJ, with their three children. Peter continued teaching aviation with Trans World Airlines, American Airlines, and Pan American Airways, and later worked as a salesman. In his spare time, he loved working on his house and garden and singing his favorite standards with friends and family (especially with his grandson Christopher). Among his favorites were “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “Long Ago and Far Away.”

Peter is survived by his wife Marie St. Vincent (née Martin); his children Valerie Ulyett (Peter), Peter St. Vincent (Lisa Kwiatkowski), and Robert St. Vincent (Leslie Gold); his brother Richard St. Vincent (Teresa); grandchildren Alex Ulyett, Zachary St. Vincent, Matthew Goble, Danielle Arrieta (Jesse), and Christopher Ulyett; and great-granddaughter Joanna Arrieta, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family was everything to him.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 2, from 4pm to 6pm at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel. Mass will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Interment at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
