Obituary for Philip Richard Oliver

Philip Richard Oliver “Dick”, 90 of Hainesport, a retired health and physical education teacher and Athletic Director at Cherry Hill High School East, died peacefully at home on September 24, 2022, following a long illness.

Dick received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1957 from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and two Masters degrees in Education from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1972 and 1974. Dick served in the US Army from 1952-1954 as an Infantryman and small arms instructor in Korea. In 2022, Dick was inducted in the Cherry Hill West Athletic Hall of Fame as the coach of the 1964 State Champion Bowling Team.

He is survived by his wife Joy Carr Oliver who he married in 1996; his children, Garry Hullings (Claudia), Susan Wehrle (William), Stephen, Mark (Dawn), Helen, and Rebecca; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 step-children and 3 step grandchildren. He was previously married to Jane Johnson, now residing in Maryland.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed immediately by a memorial service, both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals. Inurnment to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, in Burlington, NJ.
