Obituary for Richard Nathaniel Sawyer Jr.

Richard N. Sawyer, Jr., age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family.

Rich was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Richard Sawyer, Sr., and Alma Hall, and has been a resident of Willingboro for over 35 years. After bravely serving in the United States Army, Rich worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Fischer and Porter Co. in Warminster, PA before his retirement. In his free time, Rich loved to bowl and was a member of the 300 League—winning 17 perfect games and earning him a Lifetime Achievement award from the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. Rich also enjoyed coaching to share his knowledge and love of bowling with others.

Rich is predeceased by his parents, Richard Sawyer, Sr. and Alma Spruill; and his sisters, Richetta Blount and Eugenia Bradley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Philomena Sawyer; children, Gwendolyn Dawley, Denice Sawyer, Fran Eddis (Bill), and JD Lewis (Tye); aunt, Marilyn Carrington; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 PM, where food and refreshments will be served.
