Obituary for Rita Theresa Smith (Buffone)
Rita Theresa Smith (nee Buffone), age 84, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away while surrounded by loving family on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Rita was born, raised and married in Philadelphia, PA, lived in Folcroft and Ohio before settling in Mount Laurel, 55 years ago. Rita was a devoted member of Our Lady Good Counsel where she was heavily involved in PTA and the Good Samaritans. She owned the Children’s Nook in Moorestown, NJ and in her leisure, she enjoyed reading books on the beach, knitting and cooking. But above all, she cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
Rita was predeceased by her beloved spouse, Bart Smith, in 1990. She is survived by her children; Terry Callahan (Chris), Kathy Smith, James Smith (Chantal), Stephen Smith (Kathleen), Michael Smith (Gary); grandchildren, Christina, Veronica, Casey, Colleen, Sarah, Samuel, Mackenna, Jimmy, Nolan; great-grandchildren, Sal, Tino and, Carina.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 7th from 8:45 to 10:45 AM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated 11:30 also on Wednesday, July 7th at Our Lady Good Counsel RC Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ. Interment will follow at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery in Marple Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at www.chop.edu/giving
