Rodney Martin Tappen

Rodney M. Tappen, age 75, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Rodney was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Melvin and Frances Tappen. He resided in many places across the United States, spending time in Irving, TX, and California, before spending the last 33 years in Mount Laurel. He bravely served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war, and continued his service in the United States Navy Reserves for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. Rodney was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace for many years, where he was a member of the choir and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Mason’s Guild, Moorestown Lodge. In his free time, Rodney liked to take classes, like creative writing, and spend time with his friends and family.

Rodney is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years. Donna Tappen (nee Smith); children, Christopher Tappen (DonAnn Gilmore), Kimberly Tappen (Andrew Carrico), and Matthew Tappen (Mellissa); sister, Laura Tappen (Ron Roberts); grandchildren, Adon, Elliana, and Chloe Tappen, Vera Carrico, Brady Foster, and Aria Tappen. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and friends. 

Rodney is predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Toby Tappen.

At the request of the family, services will be private.
