Obituary for Salvatore A. Rizzo

Salvatore A. Rizzo, age 102, of Mount Laurel, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Salvatore was born in Italy to the late Assunta and Anthony on December 9, 1920.  At the age of seven, together with his mother and brother Silvio, they crossed the Atlantic from Naples to Ellis Island where his father was waiting to take them to their home in Camden.   He had five brothers, Silvio, Benito, Dante, Fiorvanti and Anthony.  After his time in the Army during WWII, when he proudly served as a medic in Atlantic City, England and France, he and his wife Rose lived in Pennsauken then later moved to Mount Laurel in 1961.

Salvatore was strong in his faith and a long-time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorestown. He retired in 1983 from the Campbell Soup Company, after 42 years as a millwright machinist, and was a member of Ramblewood Country Club, AARP and the Grassroot and National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, his friends and all those who had the pleasure of being in his company.

Salvatore is predeceased by his wife, Rose (nee Lanzilotta).  They were married for 64 years.  He is survived by his children, Thomas Rizzo, Richard Rizzo, Susan Ambrose, brother Fiorvanti, 8 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren together with many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to his viewing on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6PM-8PM and Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 9:00AM-10:00AM both will be held at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Cherry Hill, NJ. After the services there will be a luncheon.
