Obituary for Sandra Louise "Sandy" Lewis
Sandra Louise Lewis, age 82, passed away on December 25, 2022.
She was born to the late Charles and Ina Steinberg. She graduated from the Woodbury High School in 1958 before settling in Willingboro, NJ.
For 42 years, Sandy was an executive secretary for Inductotherm Corp. in Rancocas, NJ where she retired in 2008. She wore many hats at Inductotherm including plumber, carpenter, tour guide, counselor, event planner, and poet laureate. Despite her hectic work schedule, her primary focus and joy was being a loving, caring, and selfless mother. She was particularly proud of still carrying on all of her duties as a single parent.
She was proud to get her Associates degree with honors from Burlington County College. She was a devoted council member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burlington, NJ.
Sandy was a founding member and served as president of the local Professional Secretaries International chapter (now known as IAAP - International Association of Administrative Professionals). She was a board member and leader for many organizations thru her life including bowling leagues, PTA, little league, scouts, cheerleading, Lutheran Church, and the Willingboro Neighborhood Watch.
She was one of the most creative people you would ever know. She put together crafts, ceramics, Halloween costumes, holiday decorations, sewed clothing, and even built furniture. She has composed numerous poems for retirees, celebrations, and family. She was a tremendous cook and baker. She made possibly the best potato salad, lasagna, and baked beans on the planet! If you ever needed help putting anything together, from a birthday party to a corporate event - Sandy was your go to.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, attending the theater, reading, volunteering, visiting museums and gardening. She especially loved the beach! Our family spent many summers enjoying Long Beach Island, NJ. But most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Sandy will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
Sandy is predeceased by her brothers, Bill, Milton, Richard and Darryl Steinberg and her ex-husband Les Lewis. She is survived by her son, Larry Lewis and daughter, Laura Lewis; her grandchildren, Carynna Mott and Aidan Amaral; her brothers, Dave (Lee) and Kenneth Steinberg (Joyce); nieces and nephews: Amy, Katie, Brett, Brian, Darlyn, Bruce, Paulette, Buster & Dana, Bobbi & Norma, Lynda, Keith, Kyle, Jeff, Dwayne, Tom, Micki, Dennis, Allen and Anthony.
Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial gathering on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 1:00-2:00PM, immediately followed by her memorial service at 2:00PM. Both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter 399 Market St #250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
