Obituary for Shirley Ann Nixon (Seguine)

Shirley Ann Nixon (nee Seguine), resident of Mt. Laurel, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the age of 88.

Shirley was born in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Woodrow and Isabelle Seguine. She had resided in Willingboro before her current residence in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

Shirley is predeceased by her loving husband Donald L. Nixon and her daughter Amy Daniels Medina. She is survived by her adoring children, Cynthia J. Nixon, Donald W. Nixon (Cheryl), John C. Nixon (Kathleen), and Scott T. Nixon (Mikung); sisters, Ina Jurgenson and Cynthia March; and her eight grandchildren, Nathan, Emily, Carly, Kathleen, Rebecca, Liam, Mia, and Wyatt; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Scarlett, and Ethan.

Shirley had a deep passion for travel and visited France, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. She also loved movies, the theater, the beach, all forms of nature, especially flowers and birds, and her beloved crossword puzzles. Shirley worked as an Editor’s Assistant for the Burlington County Times for over 40 years where coworkers became lifelong friends. After her retirement, Shirley volunteered with the Mt. Laurel’s Women Auxiliary at Virtua Hospital and enjoyed playing Bunco and Canasta with “the girls.” Whether it was rooting for the Eagles or Phillies with her sons, having tea with her grandchildren, or going to the theater in New York or Philadelphia, she was truly a refined Renaissance woman. During Shirley’s life, she endured many hardships and found comfort and strength in her unwavering Faith. She was a wonderful, generous, loving soul, with a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. Shirley put her loved ones first and will be profoundly missed in every aspect of her family and friends’ lives.

Family and friends are welcome to her visitation on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 from 6:00-8:00PM at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W Main St, Moorestown, NJ 08057, on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at St. James 'Straw Church' Lutheran Cemetery in Phillipsburg, NJ.
