Obituary for Sourabh G Munshi

Sourabh Munshi can be described in many ways but what you will hear most often is a family man with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye. He was born on December 16, 1937 in Ahmedabad, India. He immigrated to the US in 1970 with a degree in civil engineering and a vision to create opportunity for his family and do his part to add the American Dream. While raising his two children, Parth and Ratna with his wife Hemaxi, he worked at various engineering firms and was proud to take part in the design of the Key Bridge in Baltimore. Internationally, he participated with the United Nations and the World Bank on infrastructure programs in the Sudan and Sri Lanka. He travelled with his family to India frequently to ensure that his children understood their family heritage, culture and most importantly, connect with their extended family.

His greatest love was his family. He cherished his wife Hemaxi and together they built a life of love, laughter and travel over 56 blessed years. He always took advantage of every opportunity to spoil her during walks with snacks, beautiful remembrances from their travels and getting the ingredients for a new recipe that she wanted to try. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren that were the center of his universe. He shared his love of cricket with Sahil, watching Tej play in soccer tournaments at Disney and Virginia, analyzing gymnastics with Shreya, and sharing stories of his childhood with Suhani. He enjoyed many games of rummy with Anjali and online videos with Karishma for analysis. Games of Toss Up or Yatzee were a cornerstone of family gatherings.
He had a steadfast loyalty to family and friends and would prioritize being present for any milestone whether happy or sad to give back to those he loved. His greatest pride was watching the fruits of his and Hemaxi's labor as embodied in his childrens' and grandchildrens' success. He will be greatly missed but his legacy of loyalty, love, laughter and hard work will endure.

We thank you for all of your love and support for him throughout the years and through this difficult time

With love

Hemaxi, Ratna, Parth, Nehal, Datta, Karishma, Sahil, Tej, Shreya, Suhani and Anjali
