Obituary for Virginia Nicotra (Bearnarth)

Virginia J. Nicotra, 78, of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, of natural causes.

Born in New York City, Virginia spent her early years in Brooklyn before moving to the North Shore of Staten Island at the age of six. She attended and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School and Curtis High School, where she met her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph.

Virginia and Joseph married in 1964 and settled on the South Shore of Staten Island, where they raised their family. Throughout her life, Virginia was a devoted wife and mother to three children, Joseph, Christopher, and Monique. She found fulfillment in supporting her family through various occupations, including secretary roles, retail management, and owning her own house cleaning business. In her spare time, Virginia immersed herself in her many hobbies, such as crafting and refurbishing furniture, which she generously shared with family and friends.

Virginia will be remembered for her creativity, charisma, sensitivity, and great sense of humor. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph, sons Joseph (Michelle) and Christopher (Tammie), daughter Monique (Shaheen), five grandchildren, Erin, Amir, Hannah, Anna, and Julia, and great-granddaughter Zaina.

A funeral service will be hosted on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054, (856) 234-6900. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM, followed by a brief service from 3-3:45 PM. After the service, friends and family are invited to gather for refreshments.
