Obituary for Vivian Veith-Ackroyd

Vivian Veith-Ackroyd (nee Mintz), age 89, formerly of Cinnaminson passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 surrounded by her girls.

A diehard Steelers fan, having grown up in Pittsburgh and knowing the Rooney family through her boxing manager father Jake Mintz. Mom was the last remaining member of the Aluminum Girls from Cinnaminson. She, Cass Rosnick, Isobel Neiswender, and Marge Pozniak were bonded like no other and called themselves the Aluminum Girls because, in their words, they weren’t as classy as The Golden Girls. Oh the stories those four women could tell!!!!  Preceded in death by her parents Jake & Julia Mintz, and her late husband Stew Ackroyd whom she adored and with whom she had lots of fun from their Rollin Rod days. Mom was known by so many as Mrs. Veith from living on Purnell Ave as well as the 50 years of working at both Riverside and Holiday Skating Rinks.

She is survived by her sister Helene, her 5 adult children whom she was so proud of - Alan (Lisa), June (Bryan), Bob (Andi), Lynne (Lisa), Lori (Mike), and her 9 grandchildren whom she doted over - Chris, Casey, Colin, Robert, Eric, Nicole, Lauren, Dylan & Sean.  “Grandma Viv” was known to attend just about every special event involving her grandchildren no matter what it was or how far away it was.

She was a generous soul who loved life. She will be watched over by her angels, Jake, Julia, Stew, Denny and her crush Scott Bakula where together they will be picking crabs, eating wings, enjoying club crackers with cheese & pepperoni, drinking amaretto sours, and playing poker.

At mom’s request, please consider donating to JDRF or St Jude’s Children Hospital in lieu of flowers.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd, Mt Laurel, NJ. Being that mom was such a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, we encourage you to wear something representing Pittsburgh whose colors are black and gold.
